I've tried reinstalling Chrome, reinstalling CRD countless times, tried CRD in Edge, etc. Input the connection data and open the desktop of the selected machine, manage files, open and edit documents, start processes, etc. However after some arbitrary amount of time (observed to be anywhere from 3-10 hours) all of a sudden CRD would not work anymore, and if I go to the host computer I see the "A problem was detected with the Chrome Remote Desktop installation on this computer." (see image). Turn the Chrome browser or a Chromebook device into a remote controller for different computers. Uncheck 'Enforce System Integrity Protection', click 'Apply Configuration', click 'Apply' on the resulting prompt, and restart. So after moving my two work Macs to Monterey (clean install, no migration) I installed Chrome and Chrome Remote Desktop, and everything seemed fine. Method 2 (Apple recommended): Boot into Recovery (start up holding down down Command-R until the Apple logo appears), and select 'Security Configuration' from 'Utilities' on the menu bar.
